Fisher Price Spring 2022

OBJECTIVE:

Pop them, launch them, roll them, bounce them, create whatever your mind desires.

Design a toy, or play pattern, that utilizes the use of a small ball, or multiple balls, ranging in size from 1.75inches -2.5 inches. Whether it be focused on sorting at a very early age, or launching the plastic balls as projectiles for a much older age, there are no limitations. (Please Note: We do not want you creating a Soccer Ball, Basketball, or Bowling ball that lights up. Stay within the 1.75 -2.5 inch range).

However, be conscious of the desired age grade of your concepts/project, as this will influence what the child can physically accomplish with the ball.

For example, the use of a small ball, 1.75 inches – 2.5 inches, can not be used by younger children, especially in the 0-3 age range, unless the ball(s) are entrapped within a housing. i.e. – rolling Popcorn Popper.

Who is your user?

  • Children, ages 1 months- 5+ years. Please focus on one particular age grade within 0-5+ years of age and design a product based around that age grade, utilizing the use of a 1.75 inch-2.5inch ball(s).

  • Positioning: (Why does the consumer need/want your product? What problems are your products solving?)

  • Portability & Convenience (Easy to move around?)

  • Indoor Usability (think about apartments, houses, and even condos – How can your product work in all environments?)

  • Developmental Benefits – What is the child learning, and or gaining from the product?

Additional Product Attributes to Consider:

  • Ergonomics - Make sure the product is intuitive and easy for the target child to use. Consider development milestones when designing your product.
