Branding Focus Spring 2022

Overview: 

The goal of this project is to embody brand values in a product for the purpose of developing your form/aesthetic development abilities, in addition to your understanding of manufacturing and how products work.

This project emphasizes: 

A. The connection of words and ideas to Aesthetics. This will be done by embodying brand characteristics in a given product by creating a product extension (a product that a  brand currently doesn’t have, but they could). 

B. Manufacturing – being aware of how things are made and designing with specific  materials and processes in mind. 

C. How things work – understanding basic electronic or electro-mechanical systems and  the relationship to the product housings and interfaces. 


 

Brand; is the image of a company/ organization/ entity expressed through a collection of tangible and intangible characteristics consistently found in its products and other touch points. 

Different companies connect with users/customers through their brand, which may be  expressed through various touch points (products, advertising, website, retail space, packaging,  etc). Relative to products, a brand may be associated with a product category, specific functionality, appearance (form, materials, finishes, colors, graphics), feel, sound, etc.
